Over 30 years of industry experience.
Has run oil and energy businesses and has been an active board member, most recently with AIM listed Sterling Energy PLC as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and Columbus Energy Resource PLC as Executive Chairman.
Global energy experience includes his role as Managing Partner of MENA Gulf Investment Partners (Abu Dhabi), President of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company’s TAQA Iraq and Managing Director of TAQA UK where he built the organization from a few people to an organization of over 2,000 staff and contractors and delivered a mature E&P operating company that managed 60,000 bopd production with US$1.7 billion in annual revenues.
Formerly CEO of Energy Development Partners – an oil and gas business creating ways to match capital and resources with developing production, for which he helped raise a US$350 million private equity fund.
Master in Petroleum Engineering and a business accreditation from Harvard Business School.

Joined Tulip Oil in 2013 and is the CEO and executive board member of Tulip Oil Holding B.V.
Responsible for overall running the ventures in the Netherlands and Germany.
Started E&P career in 1997.
Prior to Tulip, spent 17 years with Shell in the Netherlands, Nigeria, Germany, the US and Egypt most recently as COO of Shell’s Egypt business (Bapetco) – 1,500 staff, 100k boepd, 60 wells/year
Served as personal Business Advisor to the CEO of the Royal Dutch Shell Group of Companies.
Shell’s GOM development manager subsea – USD 1bn Capex per year
Technical expertise covers ﬁeld development, facility and process engineering, operations and project management.
CFO and Executive Director
25 years of experience in the E&P industry.
Most recently he held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations & Production at Addax Petroleum Corporation with accountability for business units in Cameroon, Gabon and Nigeria.
Career of 20 years with Shell since 1993. He started in The Netherlands as engineer and project manager, and moved subsequently to the UK, where he held responsibilities including business planning, HSE management, strategy management and corporate reorganizations.
From 2003, held positions as general manager and managing director in Cameroon, Nigeria and Egypt, where he was responsible for shallow offshore, deep offshore and land assets.
Held P/L responsibility for $10bln annual revenue, $3bln budget, 200,000 b/d production and 3,000 staff.
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Systems Engineering, both cum laude from Delft University of Technology.
17 years of mining investment banking and investing experience.
Qualified as a Chartered Accountant
Managing Partner of Global Natural Resource Investments
Prior to this was a Managing Director of Barclays Natural Resource Investments
Served on the board of over 15 natural resource companies.
